Treatment

The analysis and reporting of cancer treatment data can enhance our ability to better understand cancer care and outcomes. Late diagnosis of cancer may mean that treatment options are greatly limited or more complex. Treatment options may also be compromised by comorbidities. However, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are likely to receive less active treatment for cancer than the rest of the Australian population, even after controlling for comorbidities. The reasons for lower treatment rates are not clear.
